Ortho Evra Birth Control Patch Warning
Special Alert on the Ortho Evra Birth Control Patch
The U. S. Food and Drug Administration recently issued new warnings and label regulations for the Ortho Evra Birth Control Patch.
Regulators say women who use Ortho Evra may increase their risk of developing blood clots. Ortho Evra also may be linked to an increased risk of heart attacks, strokes and other serious medical problems – even death.
Medical research has shown these problems may be caused by the constant level of the hormones estrogen and progestin that are absorbed by the body while the patch is in use. According to the FDA, women who use Ortho Evra are exposed to 60 percent more estrogen than are women who use average birth control pills.
If you or a family member has used the Ortho Evra product, we urge you to see a doctor.
It’s also important to speak with someone who can explain your legal rights. If you’d like to speak with us about Ortho Evra, please call 1-800-961-HART.
